The home itself was inspired by the George Wythe house in colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Mr. Wythe was a leader of Virginia’s patriot movement and the first man to hold a chair of law in an American college (having taught both Thomas Jefferson and having been appointed as the first professor of law at the College of William & Mary.) Mr. Wythe’s was one of the first signatures on the Declaration of Independence and he is commonly known as “The Father of American Jurisprudence.” He was widely recognized as a man of great honor and uncompromising integrity. In Mr. Wythe’s life, the principles of voluntarism, self-improvement and liberty found their perfect expression.
